Station Area Description

Middletown Station is located on a super-elevated curve, which precludes Amtrak from installing high-level platforms necessary to achieve ADA compliance. After an extensive fatal flaws analysis that considered four (4) alternate locations, PennDOT selected the Ann Street site adjacent to the Penn State Harrisburg campus as the preferred alternative for constructing a new Middletown Station. The Ann Street site will allow for construction of high-level platforms and creates possibilities for connecting the station to Middletown's main street by way of the proposed Emaus Street extension.

The Station Area for the Ann Street site encompasses approximately 15.6 acres that extends primarily to the north and east of the Ann Street overpass.
Key property metrics for the Station Area are as follows:

  • Total Acreage                 -   15.6 acres
  • Total Parcels                   -   7
  • Average Parcel Area        -   2.23 acres
  • Total Assessment Value  -   $4,170,200
  • Average Parcel Value       -   $595,743

Information about the Station Area took into consideration previously completed alternative analyses and supporting studies available on www.planthekeystone.com. Also taken into consideration were parcels that could potentially be impacted by the planned PennDOT investments at the Ann Street site.
