Public/Private Roles

Initial opportunities for public-private partnership at the Ann Street site could build on existing efforts between PennDOT, Amtrak, and the Borough of Middletown to redevelop the A.P. Green site, which could include passenger parking and air rights development.  Partnerships for development and/or enhanced connectivity between the station and Harrisburg International Airport and Penn State University could also be explored.

In October 2013, PennDOT announced that the department utilized eminent domain to acquire a key piece of property near the intersection of Ann Street and Route 230 that would allow the estimated $32 million station relocation to move forward. A combination of state and federal funding has been committed to the project, which is expected to begin during the summer of 2015.
